Why I joined J1:

I wanted to be part of a team where the principles and values are demonstrated by the leadership, and where you can be authentic without being judged. JourneyOne, as part of Rmkble, is an organisation that truly places people at its core, which ultimately leads to remarkable outcomes for the clients and the team.

‍What I'm learning at the moment:

After seven years of working on client sites, and two working within our business, I am focusing on understanding our clients' needs strategically; how we can sustain our relationships and how we prepare for a future where AI supports our capabilities both professionally and personally.

‍What makes my journey remarkable day-to-day:
‍
Working with clients whose values reflect our own, and being able to make a difference to them through delivery that meets their needs.

Why I joined J1:

Simply put, I aligned with their Principles and Values. They put people and clients first, doing the right thing by them. Business results follow by default. Being humble and always delivering is in our DNA.

‍What I'm learning at the moment:

I love learning about Blockchain Technology where Accounting and Technology come together, pioneering Web3 and efficiencies in accounting and transaction rails.

‍What makes my journey remarkable day-to-day:

The people I work with and the variety and type of work. J1 are pioneers in human-technology collaboration and always at the forefront of technology change waves.

Why I joined J1:

I joined J1 because the reason behind its existence resonated with me; the focus on providing the best experience possible for clients without putting the pressure of financial KPIs on me.

‍What I'm learning at the moment:
‍
I am learning all things AI at the moment, and I've been heavily involved in testing and training our in-house AI product, Scout. Scout and I have gone from strangers forced to work together to a “pair”! I am also doing some scrum certifications to keep myself up to date on latest delivery stuff.

‍What makes my journey remarkable day-to-day:
‍
People supporting me being me. My “driver” personality is very much mixed up with lateral thinking and sometimes quite out-there thought patterns which J1 not only recognises but encourages.

Why I joined J1:

‍I joined JourneyOne because it’s a place where curiosity, craftsmanship, and care genuinely matter. The culture is collaborative, the work is meaningful, and the people are top-notch. I was drawn to the idea of working with smart, grounded consultants who are passionate about making a real impact, without the ego or fluff.

‍What I'm learning at the moment:

A couple of things:

Client-side: I’m building a strategic architecture tool that supports frameworks like TOGAF and Zachman. I’m diving into React Router, Zustand, and complex UI design to support capability and scenario planning. It’s a great mix of architecture thinking and hands-on tech.

Personal: I’m exploring generative AI and how it can support storytelling and decision-making in architecture. I’m also tinkering with data visualisation to make complex ideas easier to grasp, because good visuals can shift conversations.

‍What makes my journey remarkable day-to-day:
‍
It’s the variety and the purpose. One day I’m helping untangle legacy systems, the next I’m co-designing future-state models with clients. I get to work with brilliant minds, solve real problems, and see ideas take shape. The mix of strategic thinking, creative problem-solving, and genuine collaboration makes every day feel worthwhile.

Why I joined J1:

I joined JourneyOne as a graduate developer straight out of university. I happened to apply for a position at JourneyOne in my job hunt after graduating. It was only after looking into the company before the interview that I realised they did things a bit differently. After that interview, I was sold. Not only was it clear that delivering to their clients was a core principle, but the emphasis on personal journeys and self-improvement was outstanding.

‍What I'm learning at the moment:

As an experienced developer, my current focus is on refining my leadership and mentorship skills. I'm dedicated to guiding and inspiring development teams, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and effective problem-solving. Additionally, I'm exploring advanced technologies and project management methodologies to seamlessly align our technical solutions with strategic business goals. This ongoing journey of learning and growth keeps me enthusiastic and motivated.

‍What makes my journey remarkable day-to-day:

JourneyOne has managed to put me on jobs where I'm not just keeping the lights on. I'm always working on something exciting that requires me to step out of my comfort zone and learn new things to provide the optimal solution for the client. That is what makes the journey remarkable for me.

Why I joined J1:

I joined J1 because I wanted to get exposure to different industries, work on interesting projects, keep learning, and be part of a company that really looks after its people.

‍What I'm learning at the moment:
‍
At J1, I get to take on different roles depending on the client, which I really enjoy.
Lately, I’ve been able to leverage my systems delivery background while leading a team to deliver a digital solution, but this time more from the business side, which has helped me to build some new skills. What makes your journey remarkable day-to-day?

‍What makes my journey remarkable day-to-day:

No matter how hard or complex the challenges get, I always feel supported, not just by the leadership, but also by my colleagues in the Rmkble family.

Why I joined J1:
‍
I joined J1 because they are authentic and they walk the talk. They genuinely put their people first, which leads to remarkable outcomes for clients. As a single parent, it's important to me to I work for an organisation that truly cares for its people and supports them in practical ways. From the very first interview, I knew I had found my people!

‍What I'm learning at the moment:
‍
I recently led a successful implementation of Microsoft Copilot for several hundred end-users, and this was another big learning curve for me. I've since obtained AWS AI Practitioner Certification. Before joining J1, I spent 20 years working in IT within the banking sector. I've now gained experience across the mining, aged care, and oil and gas industries, so I'm constantly learning, and there's always something new to explore!

‍What makes my journey remarkable day-to-day:

The level of support from everyone at JourneyOne is amazing. There are great communities whose purpose is to help people develop as well as help with specific challenges. You are never alone on your journey.

Why I joined J1:
‍
I joined J1 because they are truly different. They focus on creating remarkable journeys for both their clients and staff - whatever ‘remarkable’ means to them. That might differ from person to person, and that’s the point - we take the time to understand what remarkable looks like for them, and then work hard to bring that to life.

‍What I'm learning at the moment:
‍
I’m jumping into all things AI at the moment, trying to work out what it’s useful for, for both me and my clients. There’s a lot of hype and promises around AI and I’d like to know how we can use it responsibly as a tool to aid us, not replace us. Human and technology collaboration is a big thing for J1 and I’m also very much about that. I also dabble in 3D printing as a hobby and that’s been a fun and creative thing to get into recently.

‍What makes my journey remarkable day-to-day:
‍
It’s the people I work with, both from J1 and our clients. I spend most of my time with clients so having a great group of people to work with every day, including working with other J1’ers directly, or having a strong and super helpful network of J1’ers to-hand to tap into to help me do my own job better, is very rewarding for me.
